Beijing Tourism (VR)

Information

Beijing Tourism (VR) is a Virtual Reality experience made for the HTC Vive to supplement the Beijing Tourism event in Ottawa (Oct 2017). The player visits three different sites in Beijing and can interact with objects on their table.

*** How To ***
All actions are triggered via the trigger (selecting a card, grabbing, releasing).
Locomotion was not implemented due to time constraints - the player is limited to their local space. One controller only.

*** Team ***
The Beijing Tourism Carleton team consisted of 6 Carleton students and 1 faculty member. The VR development portion consisted of Eric Aylward and Mark Brouwer. The dev / tech roles consisted of designing and developing the environment + interactions as well as iterations based on team and user feedback.

Complex building models are downloaded from online. Buildings with bad texturing / textures were re-textured by Mark.

A larger Beijing Tourism team (based out of Beijing) participated as in the October event as well. The Beijing Tourism event was a part of the "Ottawa Welcomes the World" festival.
